Luiz Araujo has taken the MLS by storm during his first few games in the league. He has the ability to beat players with his skill and speed. Araujo has already built chemistry with his teammates. After Atlanta United beat FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night, Araujo and Matheus Rossetto reportedly had a party in the locker room. Araujo has also built some chemistry with Josef Martinez. Araujo, Matinez, and a couple of other players had a barbecue during the past week, and Araujo has lifted the morale of the entire team as well as the entire fanbase.

Araujo was signed on deadline day for $12 million dollars, from LOSC Lille. During his four years at Lille, he scored 19 goals in 137 matches. He also contributed to the French side with 8 assists during his tenure in France. Araujo currently has one League 1 title and a French Super Cup to his name. Araujo will definitely be looking to win some trophies during his time in North America.

Luiz Araujo made his debut for the five stripes on August 18th in a 1-0 win against Toronto FC. His first start soon followed in a crucial 2-1 win against DC United. Araujo finally got his long-awaited first goal in Atlanta’s 4-0 thrashing of FC Cincinnati this past Wednesday. His first goal was very similar to some of the goals scored by Miguel Almiron during his time in Atlanta. His impact has felt just as big as Almiron’s, with his ability to excite the fans. His play-style is similar and he also has a great smile. Luiz Araujo is as close to a Miguel Almiron replacement as they could get. With the pressure on the Atlanta front office over the summer, they seem to have gotten their signings spot on.  Atlanta is now above the playoff line heading into Saturday’s fixture against DC United. Although Araujo hasn’t been in Atlanta for very long, his impact has already been felt across the league.
