The 2022 MLS regular season will soon come to a close, but we still have one matchday left, which is bound to be filled with drama. There are still 4 playoff spots up for grabs, home-field advantage, and the battle for the top spot in the East. These five matches are the ones that will determine how the season ends.

Inter Miami vs. CF Montreal

Both of these sides have clinched a playoff spot, yet they both still have so much to play for on decision day. Montreal will be looking to win in Miami and hope that Philadelphia drops points. If this happens then Montreal will top the Eastern Conference and secure a spot in the 2023 Concacaf Champions League. Inter Miami recently secured a playoff spot with a 4-1 win over Orlando, but they still have the possibility of getting a first-round home game. If Miami can beat Montreal and the New York Red Bulls lose to Charlotte FC, Inter Miami will host a first-round playoff game.

Orlando City vs. Columbus Crew

This match is a playoff to get into the playoffs. Columbus currently sits 7th in the Eastern Conference with 46 points, while Orlando currently sits 8th in the Eastern Conference with 45 points. Orlando will be at home and will have their fans behind them, so expect a playoff atmosphere in Orlando. Columbus might set up with a more defensive formation as they only need a draw to secure a playoff spot, while Orlando needs a win.

LAFC vs. Nashville SC

LAFC clinched their 2nd Supporters Shield victory last weekend in Portland. Although they do not have much to play for it will be a celebration in LA which could make this a very entertaining game to watch. While LAFC is in a comfortable position, Nashville must better the LA Galaxy’s result, and possibly some of the other teams around them to secure a home game in the first round.

Minnesota United vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

This match is another playoff to get into the playoffs. A point for Minnesota should get them a playoff spot, while Vancouver while needs to win to secure a playoff spot. This match will be a tale of two stories as Minnesota looked to be flying just a few months ago, while Vancouver was struggling. Now we are about to reach decision day and they are both fighting for a playoff spot.

Real Salt Lake vs. Portland Timbers

Real Salt Lake and the Portland Timbers will battle it out on Sunday for a playoff spot. It will be a win and you are in scenario for both teams, although Portland could still get into the playoffs with a draw. Real Salt Lake will be looking to claw onto a playoff spot after a good start to the season, while Portland will be looking to keep up their good form.
