Chelsea
Chelsea has been struggling this season first under Thomas Tuchel, and now under Graham Potter. Chelsea supporters would have expected some sort of success at the start of the season, so Chelsea must find a way to achieve that. Although they have to face Manchester City in their first tie of the competition, they might be able to get a result if they put out their best eleven players. Chelsea has the squad depth to prioritize the League Cup and still get results in the league, so I think it would make sense for them to have a real go at winning the League Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs are currently amidst a massive trophy drought and need to win silverware soon. The League Cup is the most realistic competition for them to win, so they should put a lot of effort into winning it, even if it means sacrificing results in some league games. If Antonio Conte’s side can get to the semifinals, and get reinforcements in the January transfer window, then Spurs have a great shot at ending their trophy drought.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa reached the League Cup final in the 2019/20 season and is definitely capable of doing it again this season. Their poor start to the season maens that they will have no real chance of getting into Europe, but their current form suggests that they will be safe from relegation. As that is the case it seems logical for Villa to have a go at a cup run. With Unai Emery at the Helm and with a great squad, Aston Villa is definitely capable of having a go at winning the League Cup. They willl have to take out Manchester United to do so, but if their recent 3-1 win is anything to go by, then Villa should have a good shot at advancing.
